Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 championships have been achieved on hard courts

A comeback Daniil Medvedev claimed his maiden trophy for 882 days with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the competition championship match.

Medvedev, a former number one, has experienced a challenging year, achieving just a single victory at the big events and experiencing a difficult moment at the US Open.

The player's varied form on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serving in especial - resulted in him falling of the top ten and eventually parting ways with long-term coach his previous coach.

Currently collaborating with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently progressed in the past month - culminating in a closely contested three-set win over Frenchman Moutet.

This represents the player's maiden championship after the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard court from March of the previous year.

Victory also signifies Medvedev has won twenty-one championships at 21 different tournaments.

"It's the first time I am participating in a tournament with my both daughters simultaneously, so to secure a championship is especially meaningful," said ranked player Medvedev.

"This victory is in dedication of my child my daughter, because the maiden victory I won when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had lost his last six title deciders, including in that event in the past months.

His counter-punching approach and recurring emotional displays on the playing surface had prompted observers to wonder if his capacity to play at the elite level was over.

But the player has made changes in the last few weeks, striving to come to the net and play positively, reinforced by an improved service.

Medvedev fought back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the challenging Frenchman, taking 4 of the last five points to go ahead.

The competitors traded breaks in the following set before Moutet, striving for his maiden ATP Tour title, seized the initiative to force a third set.

Moutet saved 4 initial chances in a competitive third set before the Russian secured a break to that score to secure the win.

Suitably, Medvedev clinched victory with a rally at the net, with the Frenchman failing to manage a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
